Unreal Tournament VR

UT99 in VR on Meta Quest, running standalone on Surreal Engine.

About

A standalone Meta Quest (Quest 2 / Pro / 3 / 3S, tested on Quest 3) VR port of Unreal Tournament (UT99), built on Surreal Engine, a from-scratch reimplementation of Unreal Engine 1, with an OpenXR/Vulkan stereo renderer.

No game content is included, but UT99 is available free and legally from OldUnreal.

Features

  • Native OpenXR rendering at 72 Hz, snap turning, stick locomotion
  • Weapons held and aimed with the right controller, including UT's dual Enforcers
  • Sniper rifle zoom shown as a scope screen above the gun
  • Redeemer guided shell steered with the right controller
  • Curved menu panel operated by pointing and clicking
  • Installs side by side with Unreal Gold VR

Manual

Installation

  1. Install UT99 on a PC with the OldUnreal installer.
  2. Sideload the APK with SideQuest or adb install -r.
  3. Copy the System, Maps, Textures, Sounds, Music and Help folders to /sdcard/SurrealEngineUT/ on the headset. Leave out your PC's UnrealTournament.ini / User.ini.

Good to know

  • Bot AI is only partially implemented in Surreal Engine.
