About

A standalone 6DoF VR port of Urban Terror 4.3 for Meta Quest 2 / Pro / 3 / 3S (tested on Quest 3) and PICO 4 / Neo 3. It is built on Team Beef's ioq3quest, with the VR handling modelled on QuakeQuest.

Urban Terror is a free multiplayer shooter by FrozenSand, a "Hollywood tactical shooter": somewhat realism based, but the motto is "fun over realism". The game data is not inside the APK: the app downloads the free Urban Terror 4.3.4 from FrozenSand's official server on first launch.

PICO support is brand new and not tested on PICO hardware yet: reports are very welcome. One APK covers both makes.

  • Head tracking with your real eye height, aiming with the right controller and a 3D crosshair
  • Visible hands: the right hand holds the gun, the left arm follows the left controller

  • Online play with the game's own server browser, or offline matches against bots
  • Downloads and installs the free game from FrozenSand on first launch: no file copying

Manual

Installation

  1. Sideload the APK with SideQuest or adb install -r UrbanTerror4-VR-v1.0.0.apk. SideQuest is a Quest tool, so on PICO use adb or whichever sideloader you already use.
  2. Launch UrbanTerror4-VR from Unknown Sources and grant "All files access".
  3. On first launch a panel offers to download Urban Terror 4.3.4 (1.4 GB) from FrozenSand's official server. Press I agree - download and install: the app checks the download, installs it to /sdcard/UrTQuest/q3ut4 and starts the game (Wi-Fi needed, a few minutes). An interrupted download continues where it stopped.
  4. Already have Urban Terror 4.3.4? Copy its q3ut4 folder to /sdcard/UrTQuest/ before the first launch (leave out q3config.cfg) and the download is skipped.

Good to know

  • Servers that require an Urban Terror account login are not supported yet; all other servers in the list work.
  • Your player name starts as QuestPlayer: change it in the player setup (click the name field to open the keyboard).
  • The PICO build is untested: if it does not start, or the controllers do nothing, please open an issue on GitHub.

Button names are those of the Meta Quest controllers; PICO controllers use the same layout. Buttons can be remapped in /sdcard/UrTQuest/q3ut4/autoexec.cfg.

Install from your browser

Over USB, for Meta Quest and PICO: installs the app and copies your own game files to the right place. No SideQuest, no adb. Works in Chrome or Edge on a PC, Mac or Android phone.

The installer needs JavaScript. Use the manual download below.

First time? Before you start
  1. Turn on developer mode. Quest: Meta Horizon app on your phone → Devices → your headset → Headset settings → Developer mode. PICO: Settings → General → About → tap Software version 7 times, then Settings → Developer → turn on USB debugging.
  2. Connect the headset to this computer with a USB cable that carries data (not a charge-only cable).
  3. Close SideQuest and Meta Quest Developer Hub. If you use adb, run adb kill-server first: only one program can talk to the headset at a time.
  4. Windows: if the headset doesn't show up in the list, install the Meta Quest ADB driver.
  5. After pressing Connect, put on the headset and allow USB debugging for this computer.
